This 335,000 square foot project consisted of a complete replacement of the school’s mechanical system. The new system is a highly complex hybrid of an ultra efficient geothermal system responsible for primary heating and cooling and a secondary traditional system using boilers and chillers. Among the many challenges encountered was scheduling, as both old and new systems were required to operational throughout the 3 year multi‐phased project. The team worked seamlessly with the GC (Lease Lend) and MEP (Gipe Associates, Inc.) to meet multiple milestone dates and successfully completed the project on time. |

Consisting of three major phases accomplished over five years, this project began as a complete replacement of the energy plant and culminated in two new additions: a women’s care center and a 5‐story wing with 161 surgical patient rooms. Additional services included medical gas piping, new hot water delivery systems, large scale renovation of the Intensive Care Unit, over 1000 new fixtures installed, a new kitchen and cafeteria, and state of the art air quality controls. Most notably, the project required all systems to be operational 24/7/365, which was successfully accomplished by utilizing temporary systems and redundancies. |

Temperature and humidity control were of paramount importance for the smooth operation the new printing press facility and the schedule required press ready conditions for when the new press equipment arrived from Japan. The 220,000 square foot facility required 3 large custom air handling units, 4 cooling towers, 2 chillers, 3 boilers, 3 air compressors, 2 steam humidifiers and a specially designed controls package to ensure adherence to the required specifications. Utilizing a unique teaming agreement between the projects’ general contractor, subcontractors and suppliers, all mechanical systems were operational ahead of the mandated schedule. |
